Concerned Citizens About Industrial Wind Turbine Projects

I am trying to find information about what a 500 ft. structure buffer means as concerns 115 KV lines. a call to the office of the PSC after 3 transfers ended up with a guy refereing to me as the guy with the ---------, and he didnt have any maps, etc. The maps I have, which are the most up to date route for a transmission line from Galloo Island to Parish, has the 115 KV transmission line with shaded circles, and the map legend key says that these are structure buffers-500'. I am trying to find out, if the edge of the shaded circle is the outside of the 500 foot area, and does the transmission line have to be 500 ft from a structure, or is it tied in with the right of way, or what? I have to assume there is a web page somewhere but I cant seem to find it, and I can't seem to find any public official that knows. I am having farmers now, talking to me about all of this, because they are being offered alot of money, but they are not sure what anything means, and I also want these lines as far from me as possible.

Phone calls to the PSC do not get a clear answer. Also, does anyone know where to find the Transportation Law, Sec. 3. I understand that if a business is formed under this law, they have the right of eminent domain?

Thanks

Here is a link for New York State Laws.

Gary, The shaded circle shows the 500' setback. the tower is in the center of the circle when constructed. A 500' setback is not near enough if that is what it is from ANYTHING. Last year in Vermont a smaller turbine caught fire. The newspaper said that burnt debri was found approximately 1000' from the tower.

The item that will be in Henderson is the transmission lines, and it is those that will be near us, and through Henderson and towns southward. The towers themselves will be on
Galloo Island. The 500' buffer is shown on the map of the trans mission line, but the PSC does not know what that means, so I am trying to find out if it is just a ploy or means anything.
thanks.

Depending on your local zoning and/or the permit and/or permit application...it is eithe setback or leway...either one is too close for comfort....

Iberdrola needs to walk away from the Energy East acquisition

The courageous ruling by the PSC administrative law judge to reject approval of the Iberdrola acquisition of Energy East is getting intense criticism by all the usual suspects. On the face of all the hullaballoo coming from self-indulgent beholding politicians, covetous transnational corporations and their business interest crony groups, the public should savor the moment. Who protects the energy consumer and the hard-pressed taxpayer? Well, we have an answer and his name is Rafael Epstein!

STATE OF NEW YORK
OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
ANDREW M. CUOMO

The Honorable Attorney General Andrew Cuomo,

As you are aware from the Cohocton Wind Watch letter of September 26, 2007, (copy enclosed) that our organization urges New York State to prosecute the numerous industrial wind developers for criminal conduct. It is crucial that the ordinary citizens are able to petition their government to enforce laws that must be obeyed. The recent investigations by District Attorney… Continue

Dear Senator,

Citizen Power Alliance strongly opposes the inclusion of industrial wind subsidy in this bill. Extension of the investment tax credit (ITC) and providing incentives for an inefficient technology will only cause a further tax burden on the public. The following points are comp… Continue
